Ayudha Puja-A Ritual or Ceremony? How Ayudha Puja is important in Modern Times | History & Significance

Ayudh Puja has a significant role and is an integral part of Navratri festival
In 2018 Ayudh Puja is on 18th October i.e. on the ninth day of Navratri

This traditional festival is widely celebrated all over Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala
Let’s see how beautifully Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar explains Ayudh Puja
People used to worship weapons before the war and it was strongly believed that worshipping weapons will bring success
Also, Demon Mahishasur was killed by Goddess Chamundeshwari using Her weapons
As per Indian Culture, it is important to first bow down to every single tool and objects one uses daily and then use it
On this, Sri Sri Ravishankar says-
“If you are filled with reverence for everything, life is so full.”
Means every single object that we use to perform a certain task should be respected
Here respect doesn’t mean worship or ritual

Yogi and Mystic Guru Sadhguru says-

“Reverence simply means you look up to it in a certain way. If you do not look up to it, if you think it is less than you, you will not be involved in it.
Where you are not involved, you will not benefit from it”

Respecting here means to look up to things in a particular way
If you ignore small objects that you use for a particular task then you will not be completely involved and lose focus on the task.
And where you focus less you will not feel fully contented for your achievements
That’s why it is important to bow down and respect every single object that we use as a part of Divinity
Doing this you will start focusing on every single and small things/objects
And as a result, there were no mistakes and you will enjoy the whole benefits

One of the Mantras that we recite during Navratri also illustrates the same meaning to us
& that mantra is

Yaa Devi Sarva-bhutesu, Buddhi Rupen Sangsthita
Namastasyai, namastasyai, namastasyai, namo namah

To that goddess who abides in all beings as intelligence, Salutations to Thee i.e. I Respect all
That’s why it is very important to get completely involved in the smallest of the objects for the success of a particular task
You will be much more contented and happy when you are completely involved
So this Ayudh Puja pay Gratitude to every small thing, instruments, and objects of your daily use
